Do you offer chimney sweeping services?

Emily at Cinnabar Sweep is a well-known chimney sweep in the Carmarthenshrie area. Emily is extremely knowledgeable, professional & conscientious. Nearly all of our chimney and stove installation customers use Cinnabar Sweep for their ongoing stove and chimney maintenance.

How often does my chimney need sweeping?

This very much depends on how much the fire is used, what fuel you use and how well you use your fire! Typically, fires that are used with clean fuel each day over the winter months will need sweeping once or twice a year. Should you use your fire a lot, it may need doing more often. Your chimney sweep will let you know when they sweep your chimney how much soot they found, the condition of the chimney and how often it should be swept.   If you don't burn your wood or coal efficiently, or if you use poor quality or unseasoned wood, it will create a lot of soot and your chimney will then need to be swept more often. Additionally, should you have a chimney fire, bird's nests in the chimney or have had bees in the chimney, it is essential to get your chimney inspected and swept.    It is important to act on your chimney sweep's advice and get your chimney swept as they recommend. Soot build up can cause chimney fires and blockages. Your house insurance will likely also be invalid agains if you do not act in accordance to the chimney sweep's advice, and the sweep must be HETAs registered.

What happens during a chimney sweep?

Our recommended chimney sweep, Cinnabar Sweep, will seal off any areas and cover and carpets immediately in front of the stove or fire to prevent any mess. Stoves are dismantled as much as necessary to access the chimney. A hoover is used to remove soot from the chimney and a special chimney brush is used to remove any build up of soot or tar from the flue or chimney liner. They will inspect your stove or fire and the chimney (both inside and out). Any minor stove maintenance will be carried out, such as replacing rope doors seals or worn firebricks. Cinnabar Sweep uses specialist camera equipment to inspect your flue. They will also check the room for adequate ventilation and carbon monoxide alarms.    You will receive an Industry Standard Certificate of Chimney Sweeping once your chimney has been swept and inspected. You will also be advised of any potential issues and given guidance on how to proceed with any problems. We work closely with Cinnabar Stoves, so should there be any issues we can work together to resolve them. More often than not, your chimney and stove/fire will sail through though and just have a standard sweep.
