Will it create a lot of mess?

We take a lot of care to be as clean and tidy as possible. It does depend on exactly what building work is needed - a simple fireplace install is generally very clean where as major works such as knocking through walls does create a certain amount of dust, but we will always try to contain the area and tidy up after ourselves. We are very concientious in our approach.

Is the government banning stoves?

DEFRA announced its plans to phase out house coal and the large quantity sale of wood above 20% moisture. The media is putting out some very misleading headlines, but stoves will not be banned. Burning coal is not being banned, only the dusty house coal type is being banned. Burning wood is not being banned, but wood suppliers will not be allowed to sell unseasoned logs. These are positive changes. There has been a huge increase in stoves installed in people's homes and since we will need to rely on renewable sources of fuel for heating our homes in future, such as with wood logs, it makes sense that regulations are put in place. These measures also keep your fire burning efficiently and safely, and keep your chimney cleaner of soot deposits.
